-staff are friendly, polite and on hand to help -can easily drive through the desert to the camp if you have your own 4x4. If you don't, the camp can pick you up for a fee (32 riyal return for a car that fits 4 people) -food on offer is very good and has a decent amount of variety -cinema is great. They put on a kids movie and then an adults movie (not p*rn!). On our night they played The Jungle Book and then Johnny English -they also offer popcorn, water, coffee and even karak chai for the cinema -camp is next to a big dune that you can climb for sunset/sunrise. They have fitted a rope to help you climb it. There are sleds on offer to slide down, but they don't work very well

Everything is just perfect. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, the buffet dinner and breakfast very good also. Open air cinema is an amazing experience. But the most important thing: The people that work there, from reception, to breakfast/dinner, everyone is so nice, amazing people. We did a sunset ride totally worth it, the car had to change a flat tire, that took no more than 5 minutes and gave us extra time in the desert, we didn’t mention it to the hotel cause why would anyone complain about extra time with amazing views? :) And the driver told the hotel that kept on apologizing, when to me there was nothing to apologize for :). Seriously all the people that work in the hotel are simply the best and the people that do the pickup/drop off + the activities are so so so nice ❤️ I cannot understand the complaints in other reviews, at the end of the say you see the world and experiences depending on who you are as a person. If all you look for is complaints you will find them, if you appreciate things you will see the good instead. Of course they charge to get us to the camp if we don’t have a 4x4, it’s not 5 minutes away, they still have to drive a bit, it’s a camp in the middle of the desert people!!! They inform you of that, the people that pick us are super nice. Not even gonna comment the rest of the non sense in the commentary’s. Appreciate life more and cherish the hospitality of the amazing people that work in this place! Thank you everyone ❤️

We stayed two nights at Sama Al Wasil Desert Camp — originally thinking it might be too much, but it turned out to be the perfect amount of time to unwind and enjoy the desert vibes. The atmosphere is peaceful, calm, and truly feels like you're in the middle of nowhere (in the best way). We loved seeing camels roaming freely and catching the sunset from the dunes. The Bedouin concert was a lovely cultural touch, and watching a movie under the stars at the camp added to the charm. The rooms were surprisingly comfortable, much more than we expected for a desert camp, and everything was clean and well maintained. Just a heads up — getting rid of the sand is a bit of a mission, so pack accordingly and plan your outfits with that in mind! Meals were decent and varied each day — nothing fancy, but definitely good enough. Breakfast and dinner both had enough options, and the buffet format kept it casual and easy. Getting there at night was tricky — especially for a first-time desert drive. We recommend arriving during daylight and with a proper 4x4 SUV, as the sand roads can be confusing in the dark. All in all, it’s a great spot if you're looking for an authentic yet comfortable desert experience, without the overly touristy feel. Would recommend!

If you’re considering camping in the desert, this is the place to do it!! So incredibly clean, the outdoor cinama is absolutely amazing and shows one movie for the kids and one for adults, with popcorn! I just wish they would delay the movies with 1 hour, it starts to early and at the same time as the dinner so you only get to see half of the movie after dinner. The staff is super helpful. Charming, great atmosphere, clean and beautiful place! Amazing experience! They offer super tasty food (breakfast + buffer dinner with camel bbq!!) and cinema under stars. There are camels living by the camp, you can also have a ride with them or just per them of you like! The camp offers pick up service from the village close by, all perfectly organized. At the place you can book additional activities- we took sunset watching at dunes for 30min, price 21rials per car (up to 3 adults) so very reasonable amount. It was great experience and much recommended for everyone! The driver - Khalid was driving by the dunes, he is originally from this area and knows desert as his own pocket 😊

We had a wonderful stay at this camp! There are several activities to keep everyone entertained, and the staff is friendly. Our kids especially loved climbing the nearby dune to watch the sunset and enjoyed the outdoor movie with popcorn. The fire pit added a cozy atmosphere to the desert evenings. The rooms were comfortable, and the camp overall was great. Live oriental music by two performers during dinner created a nice ambiance for the evening. The drive to the camp is about 20 minutes off-road. We opted for the arranged pickup, but the drive is probably doable with an SUV. Everything was well-organized, and our driver, Ali, was excellent. He even took the time to show us some camels, including a newborn that was just one day old, on the way. The kids were happy!

The camp was amazing! We stayed in the chalet and it was so nice. The rooms are clean, cozy, very nicely decorated. Every chalet has a little terrace in front, it was so nice to hangout there in the mornings and evenings. The food in the camp was very good, both breakfast and dinner with a lot of choices and much more than we expected for the desert. In the evening you can watch a film in the open air cinema and eat popcorns. It was such a nice experience. The sand dunes are just behind the camp, you can climb there and enjoy the view, especially the sunset. We didn’t take any sand dune tour with the 4x4 vehicles as most of the tours from other camps end up just above this one, so no need to pay for that when you can simply climb up. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. We enjoyed every minute there and we would definitely recommend this camp!!

A beautiful camp in the middle of the desert, surrounded by big sand dunes - wow! We stayed in a standard chalet room and were positively surprised how comfortable it was. There was even an air conditioning inside! The dinner and breakfast buffet were good, especially the dinner buffet with wide selection of meals. The camp offers different kind of activities during the day for extra charge (camel riding, dune bashing etc.), however our highlight was the open-air cinema in the evening (for free)! I read beforehand that there's no wifi in the camp, but that's not true - we had wifi, only in the area around the reception though, but it worked great!

Amazing spot. Lovely set up and great for our family of 4. Food was great- I'm not sure why some people in the reviews are complaining. It's easy enough to get to from the highway- let tyres down at the tyre repair shop on the sliproad before entering Al Wasil township and keep going. The climb up the dunes behind the camp was great- took about 10mins max to get to the top and we did it a few times to get the 4yo to burn off energy. The outdoor movies were great too- one children's movie at 6pm and an adult selection at 8pm. We also did the camel ride and a 4WD up the dunes so we could take our 10mo up with us. It was all fantastic. The 4yo is still talking about how he misses the desert
